Christmas Tree Farms Where You Can Chop Your Own
1. Pine Hill Farms
- Now open for the 2018 season

Get ready for an old-fashioned Christmas, live reindeer included. Pine Hill Farmsgrows several Christmas tree varieties you can chop yourself, plus they bring in fresh, pre-cut varieties that require higher elevations to grow. Take the kids for a farm tour and tractor ride, then powwow over coffee, hot chocolate and top-notch apple cider—all on the house. On weekends, you can catch blacksmithing demonstrations, too.
Pine Hill Farms also sell wreaths and garlands, as well as ornaments and decor in the gift shop.
2. Old Baker Farm

- Hours: 7 days a week from 9 a.m. until dark
From fresh Virginia pines to Limited red cedars, you can choose and cut the tree of your dreams at Old Baker Farm. Or, opt for a fresh, pre-cut Fraser fir. The farm also offers complimentary hot apple cider, candy canes and hayrides.
To really get into the Christmas spirit, attend Old Baker Farm’s2nd Annual Tree Lightingon December 8 and 9, at 5 p.m. The $10 per person admission includes cookies with Santa, a hayride, a classic Christmas movie and a live Nativity, plus Christmas tunes sung by a choir. Food trucks and local vendors will be there, too. And, for only $2 per pack, you can enjoy real-deal s’mores over the fire pit.
3. Beavers Christmas Tree Farm

After you’ve worked up an appetite selecting and cutting your own tree at Beavers Christmas Tree Farm, nosh on a couple of hot dogs, chips and drink for $5. You can catch a free hayride the Friday after Thanksgiving, or any Saturday or Sunday throughout the season. And, holla, they serve complimentary hot chocolate, too.
4. Clear Creek Christmas Tree Farm
- Opens for the 2018 season the Friday after Thanksgiving at 8 a.m. (The farm will be open for at least two weekends after Thanksgiving. Check forupdatesafter that.)

- Hours: Saturday 8 a.m to 5 p.m.; Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

For more than 30 years running, the Howell family has brought premium, North Carolina-grown Fraser firs to Birmingham. Visit Howell Christmas Treesin front of Winn-Dixie in Cahaba Heights, across from The Pita Hut. They’ve got wreaths and garlands, too.
Poppy’s Christmas Trees

Poppy’s Christmas Trees is another local family business that’s been helping Birmingham deck the halls for more than 30 years. Drop by their lot off Montevallo Road in front of Winn-Dixie for a pre-cut Fraser fir and your choice of Fraser fir or boxwood wreaths, mailbox swags and garlands.
Warren Family Garden Center & Nursery
- Christmas trees are in stock now for the 2018 season.

All year long, Warren Family Garden Center & Nursery in Leeds is a gardener lover’s delight. You can wander the outdoor aisles for days! During the Christmas season, this family-run business sells Christmas trees, too.Mr. and Mrs. Santa Clause will visit Warren Family Garden Center & Nursery on December 1 from 2 to 5 p.m.
Boy Scout Fundraisers
In operation since 1959, the Mountain Scout Tree Sale raises funds for 11 Boy Scout Troops all over the mountain area. The sale includes lot locations in Vestavia, Hoover and Homewood, and runs from Friday, November 23 through mid-December.
Troop 21 opens up shop in Bluff Park United Methodist Church and Ross Bridge Village Center for the long Thanksgiving weekend.
