Welcome to Bleacher Report's live coverage and recap of AEW Dynamite on January 24.

All Elite Wrestling put together a big show this week. Here's a look at the card that was advertised heading into Wednesday night:

    • Thunder Rosa vs. Red Velvet
    • Jeff Hardy vs. Swerve Strickland
    • The Acclaimed and Daddy Ass vs. Mogul Embassy
    • "Hangman" Adam Page vs. Penta El Zero Miedo
    • Minoru Suzuki vs. Adam Copeland
    • Wardlow vs. Trent Beretta

Let's take a look at everything that happened on this week's Dynamite.

Penta El Zero Miedo vs. 'Hangman' Adam Page

1 of 7

AEW Dynamite Results: Winners, Live Grades, Reaction and Highlights From Jan. 24 (2)

    Dynamite. AEW

Dynamite opened with Samoa Joe coming to the ring and welcoming the crowd in Savannah, Georgia. Hook didn't wait long to make his presence felt, but the AEW world champion escaped while the young star dispatched several security guards.

Page and Penta came out for the first match and had a long exchange of taunts before locking up and making a clean break against the ropes.

They upped the ante quickly and found themselves trading shots in the middle of the ring. Both scored some takedowns, but it was Hangman who scored the first near-fall after a standing shooting star press.

Anyone who has followed AEW or the careers of these men specifically would expect nothing less than a good match out of them, and they did not disappoint.

This was the usual AEW singles match with several two-counts and counters, but they made it feel more spontaneous at times. Page scored the win with a Buckshot Lariat.

    Result: Adam Page defeated Penta

    Grade: B

    Notable Moments and Observations

    • Joe asking who raised Hook while on commentary with Taz was hilarious because Taz started laughing.
    • A standing shooting star press is always going to look cool if someone even halfway connects with it.
    • Joe explaining what "Uno mas" meant as if most people don't know without a trace of irony was funny.
    • Penta has one of the most distinct looks in all of wrestling. He has never had gear that wasn't awesome.
    • Page should try to connect a bit more with his kicks. It's one of the few things he needs to work on. They just look a bit slow sometimes.

Wardlow vs. Trent Beretta

2 of 7

AEW Dynamite Results: Winners, Live Grades, Reaction and Highlights From Jan. 24 (3)

    Dynamite. AEW

Beretta and Wardlow were the competitors in the second match of the night. Both men have stated their desire to win the world title, so the announcers were playing up that this bout could have title implications.

Even though Wardlow had a huge power advantage, he also had the upper hand outside the ring with the entire Undisputed Kingdom by his side. All Beretta had was an injured Chuck Taylor, Rocky Romero and Orange Cassidy for backup.

The WarDaddy has had mostly quick matches recently, but Beretta is no jobber. He gave him a good fight and even used a chair to get an advantage while the ref was distracted.

Wardlow was simply too much for Beretta in the end, though. This was better than expected and needed to be, but nobody is going to call it Match of the Week.

    Result: Wardlow defeated Trent Beretta

    Grade: C+

    Notable Moments and Observations

    • Cassidy's backstage interview was great. He's speaking a bit more and showing off some good comic timing.
    • Beretta's tornado DDT always looks so smooth.
    • Wardlow's knee strike in the corner is a great spot. It's not something many people have done.

Jeff Hardy vs. Swerve Strickland

3 of 7

AEW Dynamite Results: Winners, Live Grades, Reaction and Highlights From Jan. 24 (4)

    AEW

Deonna Purrazzo had an interview on the stage with Renee Paquette. Toni Storm was her usual hilarious self, but it was Purrazzo who stood tall after sending the champ running.

Jon Moxley also gave a backstage promo followed by another from Johnny TV and Taya Valkyrie before we went back to the ring for Strickland vs. Hardy.

Matt Hardy accompanied Jeff to the ring while Swerve had Nana by his side. Jeff's last match showed him looking better than he has in the ring for a long time, and that continued into this bout.

These two do not have much experience working together but displayed quite a bit of chemistry. Strickland can work with just about anyone, but he always brings something extra to matches when he is working with a veteran.

Unfortunately for Jeff, this match ended the same way as his last one. Swerve hit his trademark double stomp for the win.

Result: Swerve Strickland defeated Jeff Hardy

    Grade: B

    Notable Moments and Observations

    • The half color, half black and white was a cool setup for the interview.
    • Instead of his usual dance, Jeff opted to do Matt's Delete sign instead.
    • The crowd loves both of these competitors, but it was a bit surprising that Hardy was getting more chants.

Thunder Rosa vs. Red Velvet

4 of 7

    DynamiteAEW

Thunder Rosa made her return to Dynamite on Wednesday to take on Red Velvet in one of her first singles matches since returning from injury. And this was a first-ever encounter for these two.

Both women are babyfaces, so neither was taking the low road. They kept it clean, so Rosa's slight size advantage allowed her to control the pace.

This was a decent contest, but there were one or two things that stood out for not looking so great, one of them being the finish.

Rosa picked up a win over Velvet to continue building momentum as she prepares to challenge Julia Hart for the TBS title.

Result: Thunder Rosa defeated Red Velvet

    Grade: C+

    Notable Moments and Observations

    • Rosa looks great with her whole face painted, but it would be cool if she used the half-painted designs sometimes again. Hopefully, she plans to alternate.
    • Velvet isn't big, but Rosa carrying her around for a while was still an impressive display of strength.

The Acclaimed and Daddy Ass vs. Mogul Embassy

5 of 7

AEW Dynamite Results: Winners, Live Grades, Reaction and Highlights From Jan. 24 (6)

    Dynamite.AEW

With the main event still to come and only 20 minutes left in the show, it was clear the match for the Trios Championships would not be very long.

The Acclaimed and Daddy Ass defended the belts against Toa Liona, Kaun and Brian Cage, who were looking to rebound after losing the ROH six-man titles to Jay White and The Gunns.

Even with limited time to work, they still had a commercial break that allowed more of the match to be seen via picture-in-picture.

These are six capable wrestlers who can have a great match on most nights, but something felt off here. It was hard to tell if there was a lack of overall chemistry or if they just didn't click this time.

The energy picked up toward the end when everyone started coming in the ring and trading takedowns. White showed up to steal a chair from Kaun while the Gunns put Nana through a table.

Billy Gunn got the pin for his team to end the match at just a hair over nine minutes.

Result: The Acclaimed and Daddy Ass defeated Mogul Embassy

    Grade: C+

    Notable Moments and Observations

    • Prince Nana was working double-time this week.
    • Cage being able to move as quickly as he does is always impressive.
    • Anthony Bowens being sent to the floor from the apron looked good. He went flying.

Minoru Suzuki vs. Adam Copeland

6 of 7

AEW Dynamite Results: Winners, Live Grades, Reaction and Highlights From Jan. 24 (7)

    Dynamite. AEW

The main event between Suzuki and Copeland started about seven minutes before the top of the hour, but the commentators teased going beyond the end of the show to finish the match.

They wasted no time and started throwing hands as soon as the contest started. Neither man went down after their first exchange, so they regrouped and tried again. The Rated-R Superstar went down to his knees after a hard hit, but he was back up quickly.

This was entertaining and hard-hitting, but it felt way too short for a match AEW had been hyping as much as it did. They didn't need to go 30 minutes, but starting with less than 10 left in the show was not ideal.

Copeland got the win with a Spear but made sure to show Suzuki some respect on the mic after it was over. The veteran did not return the favor, though, and walked away growling.

Result: Adam Copeland defeated Minoru Suzuki

    Grade: B-

    Notable Moments and Observations

    • AEW learned its lesson about not playing Suzuki's entrance music.
    • Copeland was doing some good selling for Suzuki, especially during the first couple of minutes.
    • The Spear through the barricade looked good.

The Final Word

7 of 7

AEW has had several great episodes of TV in recent months, so the ones that tend to be more down the middle stick out more than they should.

Don't read that the wrong way. This was a fun edition of Dynamite with some solid matches and promos, but a lot of it felt like filler to get to the next stage in the stories being told.

Suzuki and Copeland meeting for the first time was interesting, Storm and Purrazzo killed it with their interview, and Jeff Hardy and Swerve put on a good display.

Nothing from this show is a must-see, but it also didn't have anything you should skip.
