How To Beat the Githyanki Warrior Quest in Baldur's Gate 3 (2024)

Throughout your adventures in Baldur’s Gate 3, various companions will seek attention and assistance with personal quests. Some of these quests may affect the main storyline and dealing with Lae’zel and the Githyanki Warrior quest in Baldur’s Gate 3 is one such quest line. The Githyanki Warrior quest involves tracking down Githyanki scouts, locating a Creche, and hoping beyond all reason to find a cure for the Mind Flayer tadpole lodged in your brain. It’s a lengthy quest with a lot of walking involved, so strap in!

Help Lae’Zel To Start the Githyanki Warrior Quest

After events unfold in the prologue, should Lae’zel remain alive before the crash, she’ll wind up separated from the player. With a little exploration, it’s possible to track the Githyanki down, and she’s found herself in a spot of bother. Trapped in a cage many feet above the ground, Lae’zel is imprisoned by a pair of Tieflings who believe her to be a monster. If the player does not intervene, they’ll aim to kill your potential companion. The player can and should intervene, either by fighting the Tiefling duo or talking them down. The latter of which requires a skill check.

With Lae’zel free and barely thanking the player for their help, she’ll insist on additional assistance. Lae’zel knows of a nearby Githyanki Creche, where the player and party may receive treatment for their Mind Flayer parasite. But first, she must speak with Zorru, for word is he’s stumbled onto the Githyanki and survived!

Where to Find Zorru in Baldur’s Gate 3‘s The Githyanki Warrior Quest

Zorru, an NPC found in Druid Grove, is one of the only individuals in the area to have witnessed a Githyanki patrol and survived to tell the tale. As such, once Lae’zel got wind of this, she wants a word with the young Tiefling.

To find Zorru in Baldur’s Gate 3, players must travel to Druid Grove, dealing with the goblin assault in front of the gate, and then traverse the winding path through the sanctuary to the Training Ground at The Hollow. He’s waiting near the backside, close to the makeshift dungeon.

Upon entering into dialogue with Lae’zel in the party, Zorru will immediately become uncomfortable and downright hostile toward the Githyanki. He refers to your companion as a monster, and Lae’zel will return the attitude in kind. Based on your response, this dialogue will lead to approval or disapproval from some of the companions in the party. It’s typically best to side with Lae’zel, especially if you want to find the Githyanki Creche.

Lae’zel will interrogate the young warrior to move the Githyanki Warrior Quest forward, learning the whereabouts of his encounter with the Githyanki scouting party near the Mountain Pass.

Find the Githyanki Creche

Whether or not Zorru revealed any details about the Githyanki Creche, the party must embark on yet another adventure to find help. The word is the Creche is somewhere near the Mountain Pass, above The Risen Road, but that’s a dangerous area. There are goblins and gnolls wandering about, and most are immediately hostile to the player.

The Mountain Pass is located to the northwest of the map. With a little exploration, you’ll find the Rosymorn Monastery. Once inside the Mountain Pass, you’ll see a waypoint known as Trielta Crags, and the monastery is just northeast of this position. From here, travel across the ravine using the cable car to reach Rosymorn Monastery and, once inside, head down. But first in order to push forward with the Githyanki Warrior Quest, you have to get inside!

  • First things first, you’ll need to locate and interact with the Cable Car Wheel at the Rosymorn Monastery Trail. It’s located at X: -47, Y: -45. It does require a Strength Check, so bring along a Paladin, Fighter, or Cleric.
  • Afterward, a gondola ascends to your location. Wait for it to arrive, then enter the gondola with the whole party before interacting with the other wheel.
  • Once the gondola brings the party down, follow the obvious path forward and take a left, then head down the stairs. There, to the left-hand side of the trail, is a bridge to cross. Once across, a cutscene will start playing.
  • With the cutscene done, head north to find the Rosymorn Monastery Courtyard. On the left-hand side, you’ll note a few shattered windows that you may climb through. But be wary, as inside are a group of drunk Kobolds. Thankfully, it is entirely possible to stealth past the group and locate the stairs heading up to the north wall.
  • Keep exploring the Monastery, eventually coming upon some large doors with a stairway leading down. At the bottom, there’s a barricade to destroy. You’ll want to work past this area, through the open door just on the opposite side, and find the room with the large statue with a plaque. You will want to interact with the plaque as it updates the journal and the quest.
  • With the plaque behind you, head to the north side of the building, down the flights of stairs, and through the large doors that lead to the Monastery Basem*nt. Through these doors is Creche Y’llek!

It’s quite the journey to reach the Githyanki Creche. But the road isn’t over yet!

Gish will stop the party from entering the Creche, though Lae’zel can speak with her to press forward.

Finding Help With Your Tadpole

Once inside the Githyanki Creche, the Githyanki Warrior Quest will continue. It’s time to find someone or something that can help with the Mind Flayer tadpole rooting around inside your skull. Thankfully, Lae’zel promises the scientists here can help.

It’s best to allow Lae’zel to speak with the scientist/healer. They’ll tell the party of a machine designed to help in such cases, and it’s not far. But there comes a choice with using the machine, as either the player or Lae’zel may use it first. It’s best to go first, as Lae’zel requires a high skill check to survive the encounter.

Unfortunately, the machine fails. The tadpole is stronger than the Githyanki science, and it survives the interaction despite numerous skill checks and dialogue choices. Instead, the machine is outright destroyed, which leaves the healer unhappy and openly hostile to the party. If you do not wish to fight the entire Githyanki Creche, convince her the tadpole died during the process. Otherwise, she’ll attack!

Speak With Lae’zel to Continue the Githyanki Warrior Quest

With hope all but smoldering to ash, Lae’zel is convinced the machine was tampered with by a traitor. She’ll request a meeting with the Inquisitor, which always culminates in a combat encounter. It’s recommended that you save before entering his chambers. The Githyanki Inquisitor, Ch’r’ai W’wargaz, is a tough boss battle, and no matter what choice the player makes, he always turns hostile.

But with the fight behind you, hopefully, without much trouble, it’s time to push on with the Githyanki Warrior Quest. It’s time to meet the Queen of the Githyanki!

The Queen is a little more welcoming, though it’s because she wants your help. She’ll task the player with a new quest, which involves entering the prism and killing the being sealed within. Follow along with the quest and delve into the prism to push forward deeper into the main story and Lae’zel’s side quest.
